API credentials and scope
API credentials identify an external platform with a client ID and secret. The credential's Config tab contains these settings.
Details
| Control or information | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Setup | The credential name and enabled status. |
| Rate limits | Limits per second, minute, hour, day, and month. An empty box means no cap for that window. |
| Devices it can read | The selected devices the credential can access. An empty selection gives no device access. |
| APIs it can call | Allowed versions and API areas. v3 areas can be granted individually. v1 and v2 are legacy contracts. |
| Client credentials | Client ID and masked client secret. Show and Copy are credential controls. |
| Regenerate secret | Keeps the client ID and immediately invalidates the current secret. |
The setting editors have Save and Cancel controls.
Generate credential is the creation control. The credential header has Disable credential, Regenerate client secret, and Delete credential controls.
