The Device Explorer example has Device and Parameters variables. The Overview example uses Selected device and Parameters.
Device selection
Open the device selector to read available entries. Search devices or tags… searches the list.
Entries can show a region label and a star indicator.
Parameter selection
The parameter selector lists parameter names and units. Search parameters… helps you find a parameter.
Checkboxes show the selected parameters. The menu also contains a control to select or deselect all entries.
Static and variable sources
| Source | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Variable | The widget uses a named board variable. Its configuration shows the variable name and current selection. |
| Static | The widget uses the devices and parameters in its own configuration. |
| No variables | The board has no shared variable controls. Read each widget's own data selections. |
A variable change supplies a new selection to the widgets linked to that variable.
A board's variables are chosen when the board is created: Static, 1 Device, or 2 Device, and No Param, 1 Param, or Multi Param. See Create a dashboard.
Changes are not permanent until you save. The header shows unsaved changes. If you leave with unsaved changes, a dialog offers Stay, Discard, and Save.
Some widgets have a parameter selector beside the chart. This selector chooses the parameter shown in that widget.
